This is a research project that aims to develop a checklist of trauma symptoms based on Terr's trauma research relevant for child and adolescent populations, to enable differentiation between patterns of trauma symptoms.
It is also intended by the researchers to develop a modularized treatment protocol for the treatment of key symptoms related to traumatic experiences using a psycho-educational cognitive-behavioural approach.
The aim of the research is to develop and implement an efficacious treatment for child and adolescent trauma victims. Leone Terr's research into child and adolescent trauma provides the basis and the theoretical underpinning that guides the development of the current project. In conjunction with Maroondah Eastern Health (a health region in Victoria, Australia) this project has been in its developing stages since April, 2001. Ethics approval was granted in December 2001 through Maroondah Eastern Health Ethics Committee and also through the Human Research Ethics Committee at Deakin University (Victoria, Australia). |
